A type of Quartz famous for its royal purple color, Amethyst is an abundant and incredibly versatile stone which shows up in jewelry in all price ranges. Amethyst was once believed to quicken one’s wits and stave off evil thoughts. It is currently February’s only birthstone, and the commemorative stone for the 6th and 17h wedding anniversaries.
