Because Bopie personally designs many of the unique pieces of jewelry at Bopie's Pearls & Gems, she often needs a
gemstone to be cut and facetted to an exact shape and size while being exactly the right color. Fortunately, Bopie's
husband Mike cuts gemstones. In order to meet Bopie's jewelry designing requirements, Bopie's Pearls & Gems
maintains a selection of some of the finest gemstone rough available.
Rough is the term used to identify uncut gemstones. We search the world over to find the finest gemstone rough to
create Bopie's unique gemstone designs. On occasion we purchase excess even if we just need one or two pieces of
gemstone rough. Miners and other rough sellers are often willing to sell gemstone rough only by the lot. When this
occurs, we will list the excess rough here for fellow gemstone cutters and gemstone specimen collectors. If you are
looking for a very specific gemstone, contact us. If we don't have it, we may be able to cut it for you.
Every attempt is made to accurately describe each piece of gemstone rough displayed here, but sometimes seeing
the rough is the best way to determine if it is the right match for a cutter or collector. If you are not satisfied with any
of the gemstone rough listed below, you can return it within ten days of receipt for a complete refund. The rough
must be in the same condition it was sent in.
Aquamarine (Beryl) - Birth stone for the month of March:
Mike just returned from a gemstone hunting trip to the interior of Brazil. While there he was able to purchase a lot
(parcel) of aquamarine from one of the miners. The miner would not break up the lot so we have more aquamarine
than we are able to cut ourselves. Because virtually every gemstone in the lot was clean and had solid blue color, we
were happy to purchase it all. None of this aquamarine has been heat treated.

Lapis Lazuli:
Sorry - Lapis is no longer available (and I am not planning to go back to Afghanistan to get any more)
Mike was recently stationed in Afghanistan with the U.S. Army and, while he was there, he was able to purchase some
of the absolute finest lapis available anywhere in the world. Bopie's currently has more lapis on hand then we will be
able to use in the near (and far) future, so we are making this lapis available to our fellow gemstone cutters and
collectors. Note: Mike does not plan on going back to Afghanistan any time soon, so once this collection is gone - it's
